hardware revision 1.9
1 $NetBSD: hardware,v 1.9 1998/01/09 18:46:06 perry Exp $ 2 3NetBSD/atari _VER runs on a TT030, Falcon and Hades. An FPU is not required. 4The minimum amount of RAM required is 4Mb. On the Hades, only the et4000-PCI 5card is supported in the _VER release. When another video card is present, 6you can use NetBSD only with a serial console. 7 8Here is a table of recommended HD partition sizes for a full install: 9 partition: advise, with X, needed, with X 10 root (/) 20M 20M 15M 15M 11 user (/usr) 95M 125M 75M 105M 12 swap ----- 2M for every M ram ----- 13 local (/local) up to you 14 15In addition of the rule of thumb for the swap size mentioned below, you 16probably want to make sure that the size of the swap partition does not 17drop below 20Mb (30Mb for systems with X). 18As you may note the recommended size of /usr is 20M greater than 19needed. This is to leave room for a kernel source and compile tree 20as you will probably want to compile your own kernel. (GENERIC is 21large and bulky to accommodate all people, BOOT is small and might 22not have all the features you want). 23 24Supported devices include: 25 - The builtin SCSI host adapter 26 - Should support most SCSI-drives. The drives that are 27 currently tested are: 28 MAXTOR 7245S, MAXTOR 7080S, SEAGATE ST157N 29 - Should support most tape drives. The drives that are 30 currently tested are: 31 TANDBERG 3600, TANDBERG 3800 32 - Should support most CD-ROM drives. 33 - Should support most ZIP/MO drives. 34 - The builtin video controller 35 - The builtin (720Kb/1.44Mb) floppydrive 36 - The serial2/modem2 ports 37 - The Falcon FX memory expansion 38 - The atari mouse 39 - A 3-button mouse 40 - The parallel printer 41 - Riebl (and possibly PAM) ethernet cards on the VME bus. 42 - IDE interface on both Falcon and Hades 43 - The serial interface on the first 68901 UART (modem1) 44 - ET4000-PCI (VGA) on the Hades. 45 46If it's not on this list, there is no support for it in this release. 47
