hardware revision 1.2
1 $NetBSD: hardware,v 1.2 1998/01/09 18:46:49 perry Exp $ 2 3NetBSD/mvme68k _VER runs on Motorola MVME147 boards. 4 5The minimal configuration requires 4M of RAM and ~100MB of disk space. 6To install the entire system requires much more disk space (approx. 7200MB additional space is necessary for full sources. Double that if you 8want to recompile it all!). To run X (clients only) or compile the system, 9more RAM is recommended. Good performance requires 8MB of RAM, or 16 MB 10when running the X Window System. 11 12Here is a table of recommended HD partition sizes for a full install: 13 partition: advise needed 14 root (/) 20M 12M 15 user (/usr) 100M 80M 16 swap (2 or 3 * RAM) 8M 17 Anything else is up to you! 18 19Note that the mvme68k installation procedure uses a `miniroot' image 20which is placed into the swap area of the disk. The swap partition 21must be large enough to hold this miniroot image (> 6Mb). 22 23The following VME147 hardware is supported: 24 25 Serial ports (RS232): 26 built-in console, tty01, tty02 and tty03 27 28 Parallel port: 29 On-board centronics style printer port 30 31 Network interfaces: 32 On-board Lance Ethernet (le) 33 34 SCSI: (Most SCSI disks, tapes, CD-ROMs, etc.) 35 On-board wd33c93 SCSI bus interface chip (async only for now). 36 37 Miscellaneous: 38 Battery-backed real-time clock. 39 VMEbus RAM cards. 40 41If it's not on this list, there is no support for it in this release. 42
