Readme revision 1.1 1 1.1 christos Python - DTracing Python
1.1 christos
1.1 christos These scripts trace the Python programming language, and require a version
1.1 christos of Python which has been built with DTrace probes.
1.1 christos
1.1 christos The Python DTrace provider was originally written by John Levon, and
1.1 christos was integrated into Solaris Nevada in build 65. If you are on a different
1.1 christos OS with DTrace and would like to use these scripts, you could download
1.1 christos Python and the Python DTrace provider patch listed in the comments here,

1.1 christos
1.1 christos You will need patch and build Python for these probes to work.
1.1 christos Or, check if a pre-built package is available someone on opensolaris.org.
1.1 christos
1.1 christos Since the DTrace Python provider may be developed further, there is a chance
1.1 christos that it has changed slightly by the time you are reading this, causing
1.1 christos these scripts to either break or behave oddly. Firstly, check for newer
1.1 christos versions of the DTraceToolkit; if it hasn't been updated and you need
1.1 christos to use these scripts immediately, then updating them shouldn't take
1.1 christos too long. The following was the state of the provider when these scripts
1.1 christos were written - check for changes and update the scripts accordingly,
1.1 christos
1.1 christos provider python {
1.1 christos probe function-entry(file, subroutine, lineno)
1.1 christos probe function-return(file, subroutine, lineno)
1.1 christos };
