It allows a program that uses 4 1.1 jtc Unix system calls to transparently use a file (usually a tape drive) on 5 1.1 jtc another system via /etc/rmt, simply by including <rmt.h>. It is 6 1.1 jtc particularly useful with tar and dd, and is supplied with GNU tar. 7 1.1 jtc 8 1.1 jtc This package has evolved somewhat over the years.
