      3  1.1  rillig This is NetBSD indent.  It originally came from the University of Illinois via
      4  1.3  rillig some distribution tape for PDP-11 Unix.  It has subsequently been hacked upon
      5  1.3  rillig by James Gosling @ CMU.  At some point in the 1970s or even 1980s, it was
      6  1.1  rillig thought to be "the nicest C pretty printer around".  Around 1985, further
      7  1.3  rillig additions to provide "Kernel Normal Form" were contributed by the folks at Sun
      8  1.1  rillig Microsystems.

     10  1.1  rillig Between 2000 and 2019, FreeBSD maintained the code, adding several features.

     13  1.2  rillig In 2021, indent was updated to handle C99 comments and the code got a major
     14  1.2  rillig overhaul.  Indent got an extensive and systematic test suite, which uncovered
     15  1.3  rillig many inconsistencies and bugs.  Several of these bugs had been introduced by
     16  1.2  rillig importing the FreeBSD version on 2019-04-04.
