This 17 should only use the current information rather than force a reprobe on 18 all hardware - not only can that reprobe be very slow (e.g. EDID 19 timeouts on the order of seconds), but it may perturb the setup that the 20 user is trying to configure. 21 22 Signed-off-by: Chris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk> 23 24commit 3d03be780fca4949b11ead46c5ea5d3266c03c32 25Author: Chris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk> 26Date: Thu Jun 18 08:27:49 2015 +0100 27 28 Mark all CRTC as currently unused for second picking CRTC pass 29 30 We perform two passes over the CRTC in order to find the preferred CRTC 31 for each enabled output. In the first pass, we try to preserve the 32 existing output <-> CRTC relationships (to avoid unnecessary flicker). 33 If that pass fails, we try again but with all outputs first disabled. 34 However, the logic to preserve an active CRTC was not disabled along 35 with the outputs - meaning that if one was active but its associated 36 output was disabled by the user, then that CRTC would remain unavailable 37 for other outputs. The result would be that we would try to assign more 38 CRTC than available (i.e. if the user request 3 new HDMI outputs on a 39 system with only 3 CRTC, and wished to switch off an active internal 40 panel, we would report "cannot find CRTC" even though that configuration 41 could be established.) 42 43 Reported-and-tested-by: Nathan Schulte <nmschulte@gmail.com> 44 Signed-off-by: Chris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk> 45 46commit 53ef3fc13b3e282902892e3140765460c6f93276 47Author: Chris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk> 48Date: Thu Jun 18 08:27:48 2015 +0100 49 50 Mark disabling an output as a change in its CRTC 51 52 When an output is disabled via the cmdline, we can use that information 53 to prevent assigning the current CRTC to the output and free it up for 54 reuse by other outputs in the first pass of picking CRTC. 55 56 Reported-and-tested-by: Nathan Schulte <nmschulte@gmail.com> 57 Signed-off-by: Chris Wilson <chris@chris-wilson.co.uk> 58 59commit 09989b09a342b273ee30e1d96267dced3cbe61b0 60Author: Aaron Plattner <aplattner@nvidia.com> 61Date: Thu Apr 9 11:14:54 2015 -0700 62 63 Split verbose mode printing into a helper function 64 65 Combine the two forms of verbose mode printing into a single function. The only exceptions are "-display" and 354 "-help", most likely for historical reasons. To make the behavior 355 consistent across all options, the following patch adds "--display" 356 and "--help" as alternatives to the current inconsistency. The man 357 page got updated as well, recommending double-dash variants for both 358 options.
