hardware revision 1.8
1NetBSD/amiga 1.2 runs on any Amiga that has a 68020 or better CPU with 2some form of FPU and MMU, and on DraCos which still have a CIA. 3 4The minimal configuration requires 4M of RAM and about 65M of disk 5space. To install the entire system requires much more disk space, 6and to run X or compile the system, more RAM is recommended. (4M of 7RAM will actually allow you to compile, however it won't be speedy. X 8really isn't usable on a 4M system.) 9 10Here is a table of recommended HD partition sizes for a full install: 11 partition: advise, with X, needed, with X 12 root (/) 15M 15M 10M 10M 13 user (/usr) 65M 100M 45M 80M 14 swap ----- 2M for every M ram ----- 15 local (/local) up to you 16 17 18As you may note the recommended size of /usr is 20M greater than 19needed. This is to leave room for a kernel source and compile tree as 20you will probably want to compile your own kernel. (GENERIC is large 21and bulky to accommodate all people). 22 23If you only have 4M of fast memory, you should make your swap partition 24larger, as your system will be doing much more swapping. 25 26Supported devices include: 27 A4000/A1200 IDE controller. 28 SCSI host adapters: 29 33c93 based boards: A2091, A3000 builtin and GVP series II. 30 53c80 based boards: 12 Gauge, IVS, Wordsync/Bytesync and 31 Emplant.*) 32 53c710 based boards: A4091, Magnum, Warp Engine, Zeus 33 and DraCo builtin. 34 FAS216 based SCSI boards: FastLane Z3, Blizzard I and II**) 35 Video controllers: 36 ECS, AGA and A2024 built in on various Amigas. 37 Retina Z2, Retina Z3 and Altais. 38 Picasso II. 39 GVP Spectrum. 40 Piccolo. 41 Piccolo SD64. 42 A2410. 43 Cybervision 64. 44 Domino. 45 Merlin (Zorro 2 only). 46 Omnibus. 47 Ethernet controllers: 48 A2065 Ethernet 49 Hydra Ethernet 50 ASDG Ethernet 51 A4066 Ethernet 52 Ariadne Ethernet 53 Quicknet Ethernet 54 ARCnet controllers: 55 A2060 ARCnet 56 Tape drives: 57 Most SCSI tape drives, including 58 Archive Viper, Cipher SCSI-2 ST150. 59 Scanners: 60 SCSI-2 scanners behaving as SCSI-2 scanner devices, 61 HP Scanjet II, Mustek SCSI scanner.***) 62 CD-ROM drives: 63 Most SCSI CD-ROM drives 64 Serial cards: 65 MultiFaceCard II and III 66 A2232 67 Amiga floppy drives. 68 Amiga parallel port. 69 Amiga serial port. 70 Amiga mouse. 71 72If its not on the above lists, there is no support for it in this 73release. Especially (but this is an incomplete list), there is no 74driver for: 75 76 Cyberstorm SCSI option, Blizzard IV SCSI, Blizzard 2060 SCSI, 77 Ferret SCSI, Oktagon SCSI. 78 79Known problems with some hardware: 80 81 *) the Emplant SCSI adapter has been reported by a party to 82 hang after doing part of the installation without problems. 83 84 **) Fastlane SCSI is reported to show data errors and hangs at 85 least when used with multiple devices on the bus. This might 86 be a problem with any FAS board. 87 88 ***) SCSI scanner support is machine independent, so it should 89 work, but hasn't been tested yet on most Amiga configurations. 90 There are reports that it Mustek and HP Scanjet hang if 91 accessed from the A3000. This might apply to other 92 33C93-Adapters, too. 93
