This behavior is disabled by 361 default and may only be specified globally. Prior to this the server renders 362 the leases unavailable until they expire or the server is restarted. Clients 363 that need leases in multiple networks must supply a unique IAID in each IA. 364 When release-on-roam is disabled (the default) the server maintains the 365 prior behavior of making such leases unavailable until they expire or the 366 server is restarted. Clients that need leases in multiple networks must 367 supply a unique IAID in each IA. This parameter may only be specified at 368 the global level. It is worth noting that because stateful 385 data is not retained by the server for static leases, each time a client 386 requests or renews a static lease, the server will perform DDNS updates for 387 it. This may have significant performance implications for environments 388 with many clients that request or renew static leases often. Additionally, 488 DHCPOFFERs will be logged before their corresponding DHCPREQUESTs are 489 sent and logged. 490 [ISC-Bugs #2729] 491 492 - When given the -T command line argument, in addition to reading the 493 current lease file, the server will write the leases to a temporary 494 lease file. This can help detect issues in server configuration that 495 only surface when leases are written to the file. The current lease 496 file will not be modified and the temporary lease file is removed upon 497 completion of the test. 498 [ISC-Bugs #22267] 499 500 - dhclient will now generate a DHCPv6 DECLINE message containing all IA_NA 501 addresses which for which the client script indicates a DAD failure. When enabled, the 513 server will check for clients that do the byte ordering on the secs field 514 incorrectly. This field should be in network byte order but some clients 515 get it wrong. When this parameter is enabled the server will examine the 516 secs field and if it looks wrong (high byte non zero and low byte zero) swap 517 the bytes. The default is disabled. This parameter is only useful when 518 doing load balancing within failover. 519 [ISC-Bugs #45364] 520 521 - The default value for server (-6) parameter, prefix-length-mode, has been 522 changed from "exact" to "prefer". In "prefer" mode the server will offer 523 the first available prefix with the same length as that requested by the 524 client. If none are found then it will offer the first available prefix of 525 any length. This is more in line with with RFC 8168 and should improve 526 the out-of-the-box user experience. 527 **NOTE: THIS IS CHANGE IN DEFAULT BEHAVIOR. 528 [ISC-Bugs #45615] 529 530 - Added support for 'dhcp-cache-threshold' to IPv6 operation: If a client 531 renews before 'dhcp-cache-threshold' percent of its lease has elapsed 532 (default 25%), the server will reuse the allocated lease (provide a 533 lease within the currently allocated lease-time) rather than extend or 534 renew the lease. This allows the server to reply without needlessly 535 writing leases to disk. The preferred and valid lease lifetimes 536 sent to the client will be reduced by the age of the lease. Then it sends a response to the client that lets the 3423 client believe it is performing client updates (which it will), probably 3424 for a different name. In essence, this lets the client do as it will, 3425 ignoring this aspect of their request. 3426 3427 - Support for compressed 'domain name list' style DHCP option contents, and 3428 in particular the domain search option (#119) was added. 3429 3430 - The DHCP LEASEQUERY protocol as defined in RFC4388 is now implemented. 3431 LEASEQUERY lets you query the DHCP server for information about a lease, 3432 using either an IP address, MAC address, or client identifier. RFC2131 clarified the siaddr field as 3815 meaning the 'next server in the bootstrap process', eg a tftp server. 3816 The siaddr field is now left zeroed unless next-server is configured. 3817 3818 - mockup_lease() could have returned in an error condition (or in the 3819 condition where no fixed-address was found matching the shared 3820 network) with stale references to a host record. This is probably not 3821 a memory leak since host records generally never die anyway. 3822 3823 - A bug was repaired where failover servers would let stale client identifiers 3824 persist on leases that were reallocated to new clients not sending an id. 3825 3826 - Binding scopes ("set var = value;") are now removed from leases allocated 3827 by failover peers if the lease had expired. This should help reduce the 3828 number of stale binding scopes on leases. 3829 3830 - A small memory leak was closed involving client identifiers larger than 3831 7 bytes, and failover. 3832 3833 - Configuring a subnet in dhcpd.conf with a subnet mask of 32 bits might 3834 cause an internal function to overflow heap.
